Proper Drop-Off/Pick-up Procedures:

  1. Please stay off your cell phones while driving in the school zone helping us keep our children safe.

  2. Enter into the front loop of the school off of Kingston Street. Please be courteous and allow cars into the loop from east and west bound.

  3. Child(ren) get out of/into  the car on the passenger side along ANY part of the long sidewalk in the loop in front of the school.  Ideally, 10 cars can drop off/pickup at the same time, moving traffic along quickly, and avoiding delays and traffic jams.

  4. Once your child has safely exited/entered the car, please exit the loop in a timely manner, using the left lane of the loop if necessary.    For this reason, the left side of the loop has no parking zones.  Please keep parked cars free of that area.

  5. Also note the crosswalk in the loop.  Pedestrians have the right of way.  You must stop for everyone.

  6. Please also obey the stop sign at the end of the loop.

Four Star School

Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Tony Bennett announced today the Hoosier public schools honored with 2009 Four Star School Awards. The award is the highest State distinction and is based on student achievement, ISTEP+ assessments, and overall attendance rates.   All three West Lafayette Community Schools received the award.

To earn the distinction, a school must be accredited by the Indiana State Board of Education, meet Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) as defined by the The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), and perform in the top 25% of all the schools in the State in each of the following four areas:
  • student attendance rates,
  • mathematics proficiency scores,
  • English/language arts proficiency scores, and
  • the percent of students passing both English/language arts and mathematics.
Congratulations to the students, parents, teachers, staff and administration of West Lafayette Jr./Sr. High School for being named the #1 Public High School in the State of Indiana by U.S. News and World Report for 2013.  Our Happy Hollow students look forward to moving to the high school one day!  We are proud of you!
